French Social Security health cover is mandatory for all students under the age of 28 and covers a certain percentage of medical expenses. This health cover is free of charge and upon arrival, during check-in, Esdes will provide you with the necessary information to apply.
Please note that you will be required to submit the following documents to the French Social Security:
- A copy of your complete birth certificate, translated by an official translator (in France these are called "traducteur assermenté") or a consulate
- A copy of the long stay visa and the OFII sticker or a valid residence permit
- A copy of your valid passport
- French bank account details
This procedure will start once the student has checked in at Esdes.
We highly suggest that students purchase private travel and health insurance to cover the remaining costs.
All European students who plan to study with us in our exchange program do not need to apply to the French Social Security, but must hold a European health card which is valid for the duration of their stay.
